I’ve been skateboarding since I was about 13. The politics of this sport are… interesting to say the least.

I’m keen to do a couple of posts about the gender and race politics of skateboarding. They warrant further discourse.

To preface these posts, this is a photo collection for a project I did about 10 years ago, looking at some local skaters in Lewisham. These portraits were all photographed with an original Mamiya 645 medium-format camera.

It had a light leak that wasn’t apparent until I tried to process the photos, but ended up with an interesting selection.
